The Marlborough Art Society has hosted hundreds of exhibitions over the years, showcasing work from emerging and established artists across New Zealand.
Exhibition Archive
Our exhibitions have spanned a wide range of disciplines:
- Contemporary Painting — from abstract expressionism to photorealism
- Sculpture & Installation — three-dimensional work exploring form and space
- Photography — capturing the Marlborough landscape and beyond
- Mixed Media — artists pushing boundaries with unconventional materials
- Architectural Art — work inspired by buildings, structures, and renovation

Art in the Built Environment
Some of our most compelling exhibitions have explored the relationship between art and architecture. Artists who work with reclaimed materials, who draw inspiration from construction processes, or who document the transformation of spaces bring a unique perspective to both fields.
The act of renovating a home shares much with the artistic process: envisioning a result, selecting materials with care, working within constraints, and creating something that reflects personal vision. This is a theme we continue to explore through our Art & Renovation section.
Featured Artists & Partners
Over the years, our exhibitions have featured work from talented artists across the South Island, including Stuart Carlyon, whose Marlborough-based practice explores landscape and light. We have also collaborated with Marlborough Gallery on joint exhibitions and events.
Central Otago District Arts Trust
We have been proud to collaborate with organisations like the Central Otago District Arts Trust on joint exhibitions and art awards, strengthening the creative network across the South Island.
